Tree pearls are not widely known and until about a year or so ago, I had never even heard about them, let alone found any.

Tree pearls happen when a tree gets injured and heals itself - not very different from oysters and other bivalvia. They, too, create pearls when a foreign body enters their own.

Tree pearls grow on local trees, I have found most of them on beech trees, and they grow between 5 and 50 years, depending on the tree and the injury. Once the pearl is fully encapsulated, it will fall off the tree.

Tree pearls are associated with the aspect of healing and carry the power of healing. They embody the tree as such and the power to overcome obstacles and to heal yourself from any injuries inflicted on you - both physically and mentally.

Even if you know what to look out for, tree pearls are not always easy to find, and I feel truly blessed to have found four of these beauties when I walked through a little forest a couple of weeks ago.
