I have spent so much time working in home office and my free time I spent gardening and playing ESO, but it is time to be a little bit creative. And since I found instructions online how to sew a top from a scarf, I am very intrigued to try it out.
Using a red infinity scarf made the first step was to find my faithful little seam ripper and destroy infinity for good.
The idea behind the scarf top is really rather simple. Since my space and photo abilities are limited, I decided to add a little illustration below.
You will need two scarves of the same size. Layer them right sides facing in and basically sew along the black dots in the illustration below. Make sure you leave enough space for your head and arms. I suggest you pin first and try the top on before you sew.
The way the top will fall over your shoulders will automatically create sleeves.
This is my end result, made from a really simple red infinity scarf, cut into two sections:
You see, it is a very easy top to make and even for a total sewing beginner it is a fun item to make.
I personally like the idea if you want to make lounge wear, or maybe a top to sleep in, but I personally found the top just a bit too shapeless. And being a big woman, even Lagenlook requires a little bit of shape or you do end up looking even bigger than you are.
I would therefore suggest to adjust the size of your scarf according to your own size, and hem the edges. This naturally is more work, but I think at the end of the day it might be worth it, depending on what occasion you want to wear your top.
Overall a neat little idea, needs a few tweaks though (imho).
