Black Salt

Some evening calls for a little magic. I had to restock my black salt, so I spent some time making it.

Black salt is mainly used in protection spells and to ward off and banish negative energy. And it really rather easy to make, too.

Black salt is ground mixture of salt and black ash. Some people add pepper to the mixture, but I stick with ash and salt. If you want to use pepper, there is nothing stopping you. Pepper is used for protection and mixed with salt it is often scattered about the property to dispel evil. I am lucky enough to be able to get black embers from our wood burning stove but if you don't have this luxury then don't worry. And easy way to make black salt is to keep the ash from any of your incense cones or even sticks and mix it with salt.

1 tablespoon of rock salt (some people prefer sea salt, but choose what you feel is right)
1 tablespoon of ash
(1 tablespoon of pepper)

Grind it all together and use as required.
