Originally Ogham (or Ogam) is an Irish alphabet from Early Medieval times but its origin is uncertain. There are 20 letters in the Ogham, and another five letters were added at a later stage.
Often referred to as the "woodland language", Ogham is based on tree lore. Each letter represents a tree and with it the trees own unique teaching. Ogham reflects the meanings that the sacred trees represent and can give spiritual insight into affairs.
